Lighter than polyethylene and considerably stiffer, with a higher melting point — which is what makes it the default for packaging that gets hot-filled, automotive interiors, textiles and rigid consumer goods. Homopolymer for stiffness and clarity; copolymer where impact strength at low temperature matters more.
